Place the mallets in the tall, skinny pockets. The center pocket can be used for gloves or a folded light. The shortest pocket is for a singing bell stick and/or pencils/highlighters.

Outside fabric:
16.5" x 15.5" (x2)
Interfacing:

Inside pocket fabric:
15.5" x 12.5" (x2)

22.5" (1" wide) strap (x2)

Sewing machine
Iron
Iron the interfacing onto the outer fabric.
Stack and clip or pin together:
- Outside #1 right-side up
- Outside #2 right-side down
Sew three sides closed with any thread. Leave one 15.5" edge open. This will be the top of the bag.
Cut 1.5" squares into the bottom two corners.
Align the seams of the corner squares. Trim if they don't align properly.
Sew the corner squares shut with any thread.
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of one inside piece going from 12.25" high on the left, down to 6.75" high on the right.
Stack and clip or pin together:
- Inside pocket #1 right-side up
- Short inside #1 right-side down
Sew along the diagonal line with any thread.
Trim .25" above the diagonal (so from 12.5" high on the left down to 7" high on the right).
Fold the pieces the other way so they are wrong-sides together. Press and top-stich the sewn edge using a top-stitching thread.
Stack and clip or pin together:
- Tall inside #1 right-side up
- Inside pocket #1 right-side up
Draw four lines on the fabric:
- Horizontal, 1.5" from the bottom
- Vertical, 3.25" from the left
- Vertical, 6.25" from the left
- Vertical, 12.25" from the left
Stitch over the lines with a top-stitching thread.
To reinforce the connection where the inside pocket meets the larger inside piece, stitch over this area multiple times. Here, an embroidery-type stitch was used.
Stack and clip or pin together:
- Inside #1 right-side up
- Inside #2 right-side down
Sew three sides closed with any thread. Leave one 15.5" edge open. This will be the top of the bag.
Cut 1.5" squares into the bottom two corners.
Align the seams of the corner squares. Trim if they don't align properly.
Sew the corner squares shut with any thread.
Turn the inside right-side out.
Stack and clip or pin together:
- Inside right-side out
- Strap x2
- Outside right-side in
Line up the side seams of the inside and outside when putting the inside into the outside.
Here is apicture showing where the straps should go. They will be layered in between the inside and the outside. They are shown here on the outside for positioning purposes.
The center of the strap should be 3.25" from the center of the bag.
This is what it should look like when everything is in place.
Sew around the top opening with any thread, leaving a space of at least 4" open between two of the straps.
Turn the bag right side out.
Push the inside lining back into the bag and iron the top side flat, including the section that isn't closed yet.
Top-stitch along the top of the bag with top-stitching thread. Make sure the close the hole between the straps properly. To strengthen the place where the straps attach, go back and forward a couple times.
You can make the straps longer or shorter depending on your needs.
If one pocket is enough for your needs, skip adding the second pocket.
